BUSINESS MANAGER

SUMMARY

Manage the operational and fiscal activities of the company. Plan and develop systems and procedures to improve the operating quality and efficiency of the company and its franchises. Supervise staff in accordance with company policies and procedures. Be responsible for hiring, training and coaching employees.Take responsibility for all marketing activities in assigned accounts or regions.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage the operational and fiscal activities of the company to include: staffing levels, budgets and financial goals.
  • Plan and develop systems and procedures to improve the operating quality and efficiency of the company.
  • Analyze and document business processes and problems. Develop solutions to enhance efficiencies.
  • Coordinate and implement solutions from process analysis and general company projects.
  • Development, analysis and preparation of reports.
  • Supervise staff in accordance with company policies and procedures.
  • Conduct interviews, hire new staff and provide employee orientation and training.
  • Establish employee goals and conduct employee performance reviews.
  • Organize staff scheduling to include: work assignments/rotations, employee training, employee vacations, employee breaks, overtime assignment, back-up for absent employees and shift rotations.
  • Assist staff to resolve complex or out of policy operation problems.
  • Schedule and conduct company meetings.
  • Complete human resource paperwork.
  • Present company services to current and potential clients.
  • Prepare action plans and schedules to identify specific targets and to project the number of contacts to be made.
  • Follow up on new leads and referrals resulting from field activity.
  • Identify sales prospects and contact these and other accounts as assigned.
  • Prepare presentations, proposals and sales contracts.
  • Develop and maintain sales materials and current product knowledge.
  • Establish and maintain current client and potential client relationships.
  • Prepare paperwork to activate and maintain contract services.
  • Manage account services through quality checks and other follow-up.
  • Identify and resolve client concerns.
  • Prepare a variety of status reports, including activity, closings, follow-up and adherence to goals.
  • Communicate new products and service opportunities, special developments, information or feedback gathered through field activity to appropriate company staff.
  • Other duties as assigned.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Approve out of policy company expenditures.
  • Approve and coordinate telecommuting arrangements.
  • Participate in marketing events such as seminars, trade shows and telemarketing events.
  • Follow-up for collection of payment.
  • Work requires some travel to current and potential clients. This requires the possession of a valid drivers license with your own reliable transportation.
  • Occasional attendance at bio-hazard scenes.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS

  • Basic reading, writing, and arithmetic skills required. *
  • Knowledge and preparation of legal documents. *
  • Knowledge of office processes, procedures, and technology. *
  • Experience in supervising project and team activities. *
  • Ability to read and interpret accounting and financial reports. *
  • Work requires willingness to work a flexible schedule.
  • Visibility requires maintaining a professional appearance and providing a positive company image to the public.
  • Must be able to pass a Edmonton Police Service Security Clearance including one full set of fingerprints on C-216 Form

  • * Normally acquired through the completion of a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration and three to five years of business experience in a management role, preferably with direct reports.

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Working conditions are normal for an office environment.
  • Work requires some travel and may require occasional overnight travel and weekend and/or evening work.
  • While at scenes the working conditions may be extreme.
